Do you know what your employees' New Years resolutions are? Nielsen recently looked into some of the most common ones, and found that many people can be helped along by a company's corporate health insurance benefits.

For example, staying fit and healthy is the New Year's resolution of 38 per cent of respondents, while 32 per cent are aiming to lose weight. Alas, only 8 per cent of all resolutions go fulfilled, according to Forbes. It's no wonder why; 43 per cent of Nielsen's surveyed people said they plan to make healthier food choices, though 76 per cent of them admitted to not having a diet program.

Only 8 per cent of all resolutions go fulfilled.

So, it will no doubt be useful to offer staff members your support - for their benefit and yours.

Creating a healthier workplace

A healthier workplace is one with fewer sick days, which often boosts productivity. When employees also gain private health insurance benefits - of which only half of Australians have access to - everything from staff engagement to retention become notably healthier in turn.

Businesses that provide health insurance benefits may also find they're supporting more than one of their employees' common New Year's resolutions.

Save more, spend less

A quarter of all respondents to Nielsen's survey said they aim to spend less and save more in 2016. With health insurance premiums constantly rising, an employer that takes some, or all, of their financial burden is in a good place to help them meet this goal.

When we consider that personal finances are the top contributor to stress in Australia, there's also the opportunity to improve employees' mental health in the process.

Get organised

We'd all like to be a little more organised in some way. In fact, it's one of the most common New Year's resolutions, Nielsen found, with 18 per cent aiming to be more regimented in their lives.

A corporate health plan takes the administrative and legislative burden of health insurance away from staff members - and your broker can, in turn, take much of this responsibility from you.
